The provisional calendar for the inaugural season of the new FIA World Touring Car Cup – WTCR was unveiled today by the series’ promoter Eurosport Events.
The current schedule comprises nine events, but a tenth will be added as soon as negotiations with two potential locations will be finalized.
The series will kick off at Marrakech on 7-8 April, then it will race at the Hungaroring, the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Zandvoort on Whit Monday where it will share the bill with the TCR Europe and TCR Benelux series.
The street race of Vila Real will conclude the European season before the series moves overseas to visit Termas de Río Hondo, Ningbo, Suzuka and Macau.
An additional event will be added on either 21-22 July or 6-7 October.
The calendar is subject to the approval of the FIA World Motor Sport Council and the relevant National Sporting Authorities.
