Two days after unveiling the name of Aurélien Comte, DG Sport Compétition announced that Mat’o Homola will drive the team’s second Peugeot 308 TCR car in the FIA WTCR.
The young Slovak has been confirmed following his successful 2017 season at the wheel of an Opel Astra TCR run by the Belgian team; last year Homola claimed one victory in TCR Benelux, plus three pole positions and two podium results in the TCR International Series in which three times he had victory within reach, but couldn't grasp it.
“I’m crazy excited with the new challenge and I’m happy to continue driving for DG Sport Compétition. I know the team; they are experienced, they work hard and are fully motivated to achieve great results, just like me. I had the chance to test the new Peugeot 308 TCR and it definitely exceeded my expectations; it has good handling and a powerful engine. I’m also super excited about the cooperation we are going to have with the Peugeot Sport, which developed the car and they did a great job. I believe we have a very good package with lot of potential to win races!” Homola said.
Team principal Christian Jupsin echoed: “I’m truly pleased to renew the challenge with Mat’o and I thank him for the trust he placed in us. Last year the team were able to appreciate his professionalism, his enthusiasm and his enormous motivation. He’s a fighter, a winner, a real racer! We believe that with him, Aurélien Comte and the Peugeot 308 TCR we have everything for claiming top results in WTCR.”
