Another series has joined the TCR community following the licensing agreement between WSC Group, the owner of the TCR trademark and Technical Regulations, and SRO.
This deal grants the 2023 FFSA TC France the official stamp for running a TCR class and marks the first time TCR cars are eligible to compete in a French championship.
TC France’s event format is based on two Qualifying sessions and four sprint races; the first Qualifying determines the grids for Race 1 and Race 3, while the second Qualifying for Race 2 and Race 4.
Teams may enter two drivers per car, with one taking part in Qualifying 1, Race 1 and Race 3, and the other in Qualifying 2, Race 2 and Race 4. However, in case one driver elects to race by himself, he will only score points in two of the weekend’s four races.
The opening event took place at Nogaro’s Circuit Paul Armagnac within the traditional Coupes de Pâques, with Stéphane Ventaja winning all four races in his Team Clairet Sport CUPRA Leon Competición.
WSC President Marcello Lotti said: “We are delighted to further extend TCR’s footprint to France, an important Country for motorsport that was missing from our global map. I thank the FFSA and SRO for their interest in the TCR category and I’m sure that this deal will give local teams and drivers the opportunity of discovering the thrill of TCR competition.”
