WSC has concluded a deal with Maximum Motorsport to cooperate on the running of the 2019 TCR UK Championship.
After negotiations with Marcello Lotti and WSC Ltd., the TCR UK Championship will share a grid with the Touring Car Trophy Series for the 2019 season.
TCR UK competitors will run for a dedicated classification and the TCR UK title will be awarded at the end of the season. The final calendar will be released over the next few days.
Maximum Motorsport principal, Stewart Lines commented: “This is an important development for anybody who wishes to race a TCR car in the UK. The TCR concept is a massive success worldwide and we plan to replicate this in the UK.”
WSC’s involvement will still be overseen by David Sonenscher, who added: “We are very pleased with this agreement. When I came on board, my role was to find the best way forward for TCR in the UK and, after looking at the situation and numerous discussions, I felt that a cooperation with Stewart Lines and his organisation, who have built themselves a solid reputation, would be the best solution. This collaboration will help to provide a solid base to establish TCR in the UK for good.”
Peter Daly, Chairman of the British Racing & Sports Car Club, who hold the permit for the TCR UK Championship stated: “We believe strongly in the long term success of the TCR project and we see this cooperation as a great opportunity for the championship to flourish. We already have a good working relationship with Maximum Motorsport so we look forward to working with them this season.”
