TCR Australia points leader Will Brown further stretched his gap in the standings as he took a dominant victory in the second race at Winton Motor Raceway.
Brown overtook yesterday’s race winner and pole sitter Jason Bright during the first lap and kissed goodbye to the rest of the field, pulling away at an impressive pace.
At the start, James Moffat’s Renault Mégane spun off after making contact with Hamish Ribarits’ Holden Vectra.
After conceding the lead to Brown, Bright defended the second position from the assaults of Nathan Morcom, Aaron Cameron and Dylan O’Keeffe. Another group was fighting for P6 and this included Tony D’Alberto, Russel Ingall, André Heimgartner and John Martin.
In the second part of the race, Ingall dropped behind Heimgartner and Martin, but he was later able to pass them both and D’Alberto as well.
On lap 11, O’Keeffe suffered from a flat front tyre, went off, rejoined and pitted for changing the tyre.
Brown won with an 8-second margin over Bright, while Cameron passed Morcom for P3 during the final lap, with Ingall finishing fifth.
These results meant that Brown’s leading margin in the standings has increased to 93 points over O’Keeffe.
