Wernersson wins Race 2 from pole position

Andreas Wernersson took a lights-to-flag victory in the second race at Ring Knutstorp, with Robert Dahlgren encoring the second place he’d scored in Race 1. Johan Kristoffersson finished third, making it two Volkswagen Golf GTI cars and a Cupra on the podium.
When the starting lights went out, pole-sitter Wernersson made a good start but further back down the grid there was contact between the two VW cars of Oskar Krüger and Jessica Bäckman that spun both cars across the track and brought out the safety car.
The race resumed after three laps; Wernersson managed the restart well and was then never threatened. Dahlgren and Kristoffersson soon passed Andreas Ahlberg for 3^rd and 4^th positions with the winner of Race 1, Daniel Haglöf, then passing Tobias Brink for 6^th place.
Second-placed Fredrik Ekblom in the WestCoast racing VW was the next target for Dahlgren and Kristoffersson, with Dahlgren passing Ekblom on lap 9, followed one lap later by Kristoffersson snatching third place. On lap 11, Haglöf passed Ahlberg for fifth place and that’s how the top five finished.
Philip Morin briefly held 6^th place after overtaking Ahlberg on lap 14, but the Cupra was soon parked up near the pit lane exit and Morin’s race was over.
Behind Wernersson, Dahlgren, Kristoffersson, Ekblom and Haglöf, the rest of the top ten consisted of Micke Ohlsson, Tobias Brink, Hugo Nerman, Ahlberg and Mattias Andresson. Nerman picked up the trophy as the best Junior.
Haglöf now has a one-point lead over Dahlgren after the first two races of the season, with Wernersson a further five points adrift.
The next round will be at Anderstorp on June 16^th/17^th.
