The Volcano Motorsport CUPRA Leon Competición cars dominated the first event of the TCR Spain championship at Jarama.
Isidro Callejas won two races from three, while his teammate Klim Gavrilov beat him in Race 3. The team’s third driver Gustavo Moura jr. finished twice on the podium, completing an impressive 1-2-3 finish for the Volcano-run cars in the second race.
Gavrilov had the pole for Race 1 but made a mistake and went off. Callejas and Moura made contact while fighting for the lead, which gave Alejandro Geppert the opportunity to move into second. Moments later the race was red flagged following an incident between cars of the CET class and so Callejas won from Geppert and Moura.
Moura started from the pole in the Race 2 but was soon passed by Callejas and then Gavrilov. The Teo Martín Hyundai cars of Geppert and Miguel Villacieros followed the Volcano Motorsport trio but were never in the position to attack them.
In the third race, Gavrilov started from the pole and resisted for the whole race to the attacks from Callejas who finished second, five tenths behind, while Geppert overtook Moura to complete the podium.
The series will next visit Jerez de la Frontera, on 28/29 May.
