It was Navarra’s Circuito de los Arcos that hosted the opening event of the Campeonato de España Resistencia (CER).
Competitors of the TCR class took part in two 48-minute races; as usual the greatest part of the field used CUPRA cars and the only voice out of the choir was the SMC Junior Team with a Peugeot 308.
The first race on Saturday saw a female 1-2, with Andorra’s Amalia Vinyes victorious for Baporo Motorsport ahead of Monlau Competición’s Alba Cano; after starting from eighth on the grid, Vinyes recovered and eventually stole the lead from Cano, winning with a gap of 7.3 seconds.
The best of the sterner sex were Cano’s teammates Gianluigi Vicinanza and Álex Cosín who grabbed the last place on the podium in another CUPRA.
In Sunday races there was an exciting battle for the lead between Vicinanza-Cosín, PCR Sport’s Guillermo Aso-Álvaro Fontes and Gonzalo Martín de Andrés-Enrique Hernando in the SMC Junior Peugeot.
After the three teams swapped positions several times, Martín de Andrés and Hernando emerged as the winners, beating Aso-Fontes by 3.7 seconds, while Vicinanza-Cosín finished second once again.
The next round of the season will be held on 25/26 May at Motorland Aragón.
