Latvian driver Valters Zviedris secured the TCR class title in the 2021 Baltic Touring Car Championship after the last race of the season at Riga Bikernieki.
Just like in the three previous events, Zviedris and his Estonian rival Mikk Maaten shared race victories. Maaten won the first race in his Krauman Motors Volkswagen Golf GTI ahead of Kęstutis Stasionis’ Golf run by the Noker Racing Team, while Zviedris completed the podium at the wheel of the LV Racing Audi RS 3 LMS.
The Latvian got his revenge in Race 2, but Maaten’s second place would give the latter the title. However, after the race Maaten was excluded for a technical infringement, and so Zviedris inherited the crown.
During the same weekend Zviedris and the LV Racing Audi also won the final round of the BEC6H series. Zviedris shared driving duties with his Latvian countrymen Ivars Vallers and Konstantins Calko; at the end of the six-hour race the trio beat by three laps the ALM Customer Racing Honda Civic driven by Peter Peek, Sven Karuse and Reinis Nitiss. The title went to the Noker Racing Team Volkswagen Golf GTI of Sten Piirimagi, Marius Slabosevičius and Stasionis that finished third in the race.
