Track Tec Racing will field three Audi RS 3 LMS cars in the inaugural TCR New Zealand Series, commencing in January 2020.
The team, based at Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell, is brand-new. The first car arrived last month, with another two cars on order through the Melbourne Performance Centre.
The team is run by Matt Waters and Carmen Doran. Waters has over twenty years of international motorsport experience including Formula 1, GP2, Indy Car, Formula E and many more all around the world. Doran has grown up in New Zealand motorsports starting with karting at a young age and also racing Formula Fords; she is a mechanical engineer with experience in NZ Endurance and Toyota Racing Series.
As well as the TCR NZ series, the team is in talks with drivers to run in the 2020 TCR Australia Series, including the exciting Albert Park event as part of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
Driver announcements for the Track Tec Racing-run Audi TCR cars will be announced in due course.
“It is very exciting to add to the TCR Series cars to our racing programmes,” said Waters. “We have watched the development of the category around the world, and once the TCR series was announced for New Zealand it was the logical option for our team. The Audi TCR cars a proven product worldwide, and the support from Melbourne Performance Centre is second to none, so we feel that we are in a great place to kick start our TCR journey.”
