Tom Coronel is arguably the most experienced driver in the field of the Touring Car Cup that will take place at Vallelunga in the frame of the FIA Motorsport Games.
The Dutchman, who has divided his racing activity in the current season between the WTCR and TCR Europe, will drive the same Honda Civic Type R run by the Boutsen Gionion Racing he raced in the continental series.
“As far as I am concerned, I wouldn’t mind to go racing every weekend,” said Coronel who has been named captain of the Dutch team. “So when this came up, I was interested right away. It is the first time that this competition is held and I am looking at it as the Olympics in motorsport in which we are representing the Dutch colours. This also means that my Civic will get a different livery. The Dutch flag will be on the roof and on the bonnet. On top of that, there are some orange features as well, because that is the colour of our country and also the historic racing colour for Dutch drivers. Moreover, I had a special ‘Netherlands’ race suit made for the event, also with some orange accents, and for the rare occasion, I will be racing with starting number 33, for our Dutch national Formula 1 hero Max Verstappen.”
