The WTCR resumes for its third race meeting at the Slovakia Ring, the first of the season that features three races, all on Sunday.
Following the rounds held at Zolder and Nürburgring, Yann Ehrlacher (Cyan Performance, Lynk & Co 03) has already built a good gap in the standings; with two wins and a third place, the young Frenchman leads by 31 points over Néstor Girolami (Münnich Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R) and his own teammate Thed Björk. Further evidence of the Lynk & Co cars’ good form is given by Yvan Muller who lies fourth, one further point adrift.
The other competitors hope that the Chinese cars will keep on struggling on the Slovak circuit, just like it happened last year when Muller and Björk scored only a few points and Ehrlacher nothing at all. In 2019 the three races were won by Audi, Honda and Alfa Romeo cars.
The four Hyundai cars will return the series after they skipped the previous event at the Nürburgring, while two guest drivers will join the 20 full-season entries: Luca Filippi in the second Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce run by Team Mulsanne and former ETCC champion Petr Fulín at the wheel of a CUPRA Leon Competición entered by Vexta Domy Team.
