Only five days after racing at Most the WTCR resumes tomorrow at the Circuit Europeén de Pau-Arnos for rounds 11 and 12.
The ten races held so far have delivered ten different winners and so expectation grows to see who is going to be the first driver capable to score a second victory. This alternation of results has produced an incredibly close classification.
Cyan Racing’s reigning champion Yann Ehrlacher is leading the standings at the wheel of his Lynk & Co 03, having built an advantage of twenty points over Esteban Guerrieri (Münnich Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R) who finished twice on the podium at Most but has not win a race yet.
The freshly crowned TCR Europe champion Mikel Azcona (Zengő Motorsport, CUPRA Leon Competición) moved up to third, five further points adrift and four ahead of Santiago Urrutia (Cyan Performance, Lynk & Co 03) who scored only five points in the Czech weekend.
The first of the Hyundai drivers, Jean-Karl Vernay in the Team Engstler-run Elantra N has slipped to the fifth position, four points behind Urrutia and one ahead of Ehrlacher’s uncle and teammate Yvan Muller.
The following five drivers – Néstor Girolami, Fréréric Vervisch, Gilles Magnus, Thed Björk and Norbert Michelisz – have gaps between 40 and 50 points from Ehrlacher, when 180 points are still for grasp in the three remaining events.
Action at Pau-Arnos will begin Saturday with two Practice sessions and the Qualifying, while the two races will start Sunday at 10:15 and 12:15 local time (CEST).
