The 4-hour 65. ADAC Westfalenfahrt opens Saturday the season of the VLN endurance series on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Seven teams will compete in the TCR class, running CUPRA, Honda, Hyundai and Volkswagen cars.
After dominating the class in the two previous years, Mathilda Racing returns with a CUPRA driven by Heike Hammel, Matthias Wasel and Frederic Yerly; but the team has lost his leading driver, Andreas Gülden who has joined the Max Kruse Racing to share a Volkswagen Golf GTI with Benjamin Leuchter.
In preparation for the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Hyundai Motorsport fields one i30 N car for Peter Terting and TCR Germany champion Harald Proczyk and one Veloster N for Manuel Lauck and Marc Basseng in the what is the new car’s racing debut in Europe.
Tiago Monteiro will be racing as well, sharing a Honda Civic Type R with TCR Germany regular Dominik Fugel and veteran Markus Oestreich.
The field is completed by two other CUPRA cars driven by Lukas Thiele-Martin Pischinger (FEV Racing) and Sandro Rothenberger-Karl Brinker.
