Proceedings for the inaugural TCR Spa 500 race got underway today with two practice sessions.
Pepe Oriola at the wheel of the Red Camel-Jordans.nl CUPRA posted the fastest lap of 2:46.332 in the afternoon session on a dry track, while Jaap van Lagen was fastest in the night practice driving the NKPP Racing by Bas Koeten CUPRA with a lap of 2:55.653 under pouring rain.
The first practice saw cars of five different brands in the top six positions: the Bas Koeten Racing Audi second (2:47.721), the V-Max Engineering Opel Astra third (2:48.749) followed by the Wimmer Werk Motorsport CUPRA, the Burton Racing Peugeot 308 and the Holmgaard Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI.
The two-hour night session was affected by pouring rain that eased a bit during the final 30 minutes.
Behind van Lagen ranked Fabian Danz in the sister CUPRA run under the banner TopCar Sport by Bas Koeten (2:57.034), Charles Experlaub in the V-Max Engineering Opel Astra (2:57.628), Rory Pettinen in the GDL Team Australia Audi RS 3 LMS (2:57.983), Jérimy Danial in the Holmgaard Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI (2:58.415) and Teddy Clairet in the DG Sport Compétition Peugeot 308 (2:58.974).
