The second half of TCR South America's inaugural season begins this weekend at Río Cuarto, as the championship lands to Argentina for the four final events.
After scoring a double victory in the previous race meeting at El Pinar, in Uruguay, Rodrigo Baptista (Cobra Racing, Audi RS 3 LMS) has moved to the top of the standings, eight points clear of Pepe Oriola (W2 Racing, Honda Civic Type R).
Oriola's teammate Raphael Reis is currently placed third, 47 points behind the leader, while the best placed local driver is Juan-Manuel Sapag (Squadra Martino, Honda Civic Type R) in fifth position.
A bunch of other Argentine racers join the championship for the first time. The experienced Ernesto ‘Tito’ Bessone, a former TC2000 champion, drives a Lynk & Co 03 for PMO Motorsport while waiting to take the wheel of a Peugeot 308 run by the same team from the following event at Buenos Aires. Bessone is joined by the 29-year-old Ever Franetovich who claimed the Turismo Nacionál title in 2019.
Facundo Marques, 22-years old, a race winner in the TC 2000 series, joins Squadra Martino in one of the team’s three Honda Civic cars, while IMSA regular Roy Block returns with the Propcar Racing Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce he had already raced at Curitiba.
The whole event will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com: Qualifying, Saturday at 17:30 local time (22:30 CEST), Races 1 and 2, Sunday at 09:05 and 12:55 local times (13:05 and 16:55 CET).
