TCR Japan visits Autopolis for its second event of the season with a field reduced to eight units, as both Nilzz Racing and Hitotsuyama Racing elected not to join with their Audi cars for Keiichi Inoue and Yuki Fujii. This despite Inoue leads the Saturday series after winning the first race at Fuji.
Jun Sato and 'Hirobon' will try to take advantage from these absences to strenghten their positions.
Sato and his Adenau IDI Volkswagen Golf GTI finished second in Race 1 at Fuji behind Inoue, while 'Hirobon' who drives a CUPRA for Birth Racing Project won the second race and is currently leading the Sunday series.
Other drivers aspiring to their maiden win are Mineki Okura (Stile Corse, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce) and Masanobu Kato (Team Mars, Audi).
Honda drivers Ai Miura and Takuya Shirasaka will make their first appearance in the championship for DOME Racing and DreamDrive with KCMG respectively. Lady driver Miura, a single-seater regular, faces her first Touring Car races, while Shirasaka had already driven the Honda Civic Type R TCR in Super Taikyu (2018/2019) and last year's TCR Japan event at Suzuka, where he finished fourth in Sunday's race.
Live streaming of the races will be available at www.tcr-series.com; Race 1, Saturday at 14:05 local time (07:05 CEST) and Race 2, Sunday at 9:45 local time (02:45 CEST).
