The odd couple: the Air force pilot and the rallyman

Daniel Teixeira and Joaquim Santos will share a CUPRA DSG in the 2019 TCR Ibérico that kicks off this weekend at Estoril.
They form an odd couple; Teixeira is an Air Force pilot who flies Lokheed C130 transporters and Santos’ motorsport career, though successful, has always been limited to rally and rallicross.

“I have no special ambitions for this first event, because I have not driven a race cars since October last year. And on top of this, ours is a 2017 car and we don’t expect it will be able to compete for the top positions at Estoril. Anyway, we will try our best,” commented Teixeira.

His co-driver Santose echoed: “I have no experience in circuit racing. This will be my only second time at Estoril. I will do my best to achieve a good result and I have a lot of confidence in Daniel, who has been a real revelation!”
