Brothers Tom and Gary Kwok shared TCR victories in the season opener of the Canadian Touring Car Championship on the street circuit of Trois-Rivières.
In Friday night’s race Gary, who had been fastest in Qualifying, and Tom delivered a tense battle for the victory at the wheel of their M&S Racing Honda Civic Type R cars. Eventually Tom managed to beat the 2019 champion Gary by four seconds, while Louis-Philippe Montour completed the TCR podium in his GT Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI despite a late race retirement.
Saturday morning, Tom Kwok once again led the way in TCR; his brother Gary in pursuit the two brothers put on another battle. Around the 20-minute mark, Gary would finally find his way around Tom to take the lead, but then Tom suffered a mechanical issue and retired with three laps to go. This allowed Montour and Jocelyn Hébert to finish second and third behind Gary Kwok. Hébert’s first podium in TCR repaid him for the disappointment of the first race, when he crashed into the wall and retired.
The CTCC will come to an end next weekend at Calabogie.
