The 2021 TCR Russia championship comes to the final rush in the season's penultimate event at Fort Grozniy. Saturday's races may award LADA Sport Rosneft's Kirill Ladygin with a second consecutive title even before the last event at Sochi.
Ladygin has scored three victories so far at the wheel of his LADA Vesta Sport, building a lead of 44 points over Dmitry Bragin (TAIF Motorsport, Audi RS 3 LMS) when 106 are still for grasp in the two remaining events.
Behind this pair, there are four other drivers who are still in contention. Ivan Lukashevich (Lukoil Racing Team, Hyundai i30 N) and Zakhar Slutskiy (Carville Racing, Hyundai i30 N) are third and fourth, one and two laps respectively behind Bragin.
Andrej Maslennikov (Lukoil Racing Team, Hyundai i30 N) and Pavel Kalmanovich (AG Team, CUPRA) are also split by one point in fifth and sixth positions, with gaps of 54 and 55 points from the leader.
Ladygin's teammate Mikhail Mityaev too has some chances to secure the title, although he lies 68 points behind his team leader.
