Luca Engstler defends a healthy lead of 63 points in the standings of the ADAC TCR Germany as the championship heads for the Sachsenring that will host rounds 9 and 10.
Engstler (Team Engstler, Hyundai i30 N) has already scored five wins, against the three of his closest rival Eric Scalvini (Wimmer Werk Motorsport, CUPRA Leon Competitción).
None of the other competitors has been able to win a race so far in the season and this is reflected by the gaps in the standings.
Engstler's Danish teammate, Martin Andersen lies third, 100 points behind his leader and six ahead of Dominik Fugel (Team ADAC Sachsen, Honda Civic). Further behind is Team Engstler's third man, Nico Gruber whose gap from the leader totals to 120 points.
There are still 210 points for grasp over the three remaining events, but Engstler and Scalvini seem to be one step ahead of the rest of the field in terms of performance.
However, Dominik Fugel hopes to take advantage from racing on his home ground to reduce his gap from the leader.
The two races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com; Saturday at 14:10 and Sunday at 11:45 (CEST).
