The third race meeting of the FIA WTCR takes place this weekend at the Slovakiaring, where the Touring Cars share the bills with the bikes of the FIM Endurance World Championship.
This means that the timetable differs from the standard WTCR's, with the Friday dedicated to Free Practice and Qualifying, Saturday will be a day off and all three races will be held on Sunday.
Münnich Motorsport's Néstor Girolami will defend his leadership in the Drivers' standings, following his double win at the Hungaroring. His teammate and fellow countryman Esteban Guerrieri follows, ten points behind, while Cyan Racing's Thed Björk and BRC Squadra Corse's Gabriele Tarquini are third and fourth, 9 and 11 further points adrift respectively.
The event will also mark a one-off appearance of Luca Engstler in a Hyundai i30 N car run by his father's team.
In WTCR's last year's visit to the circuit, Pepe Oriola (SEAT León), Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz (both Hyundai i30 N) scored one race win apiece.
The Compensation Weight system comes into force and adjusts the cars’ weights on the basis of the performance in the two previous events. As a result, the Honda Civic retains the maximum CW of 60 kilos while all other cars lose some weight: CUPRA, Audi and Lynk&Co 20kg, Hyundai 30kg, Volkswagen to 40kg and Alfa Romeo to 60kg.
