The Canadian Touring Car Championship that features a new class for TCR cars is ready to kick off, this weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario.
The TCR competitors will be sharing the track with the series’ three other classes – Touring, GT Sport and GT Cup – in one 30-minute Practice and one 20-minute Qualifying on Friday and then again in two races one on Saturday morning and one on Sunday afternoon.
The field is led by Bob Attrell who lives not far from the circuit and has won two CTCC titles in a Hyundai Genesis, GT Sport’s in 2017 and GT Cup’s last year. Attrell is a faithful Hyundai customer since 2009, so no wonder he has now chosen a i30 N TCR. The Honda colours are flown by long time CTCC competitors Kwok brothers in the M&S Racing Civic FK2 cars; Tom won the Touring class title back in 2011 and Gary was runner up last year in the GT Sport class.
M1 GT Racing has entered two Audi RS 3 LMS cars for Matthew Taskinen, a multi-time champion in karting who faces his second car racing season, and Lindsay Rice who has been part of the Audi Canada-backed all-female team in the GT Challenge.
The TCR field is completed by the two Audi cars run by TWOth Autosport for Edward Killeen and Ron Tomlinson.
