The fight for the 2021 TCR Russia championship will be decided Sunday at Sochi, where Kirill Ladygin and Dmitry Bragin will face each other with the aim of reconquering the title. Ladygin is the defending champion, while Bragin had already won the title four times between 2016 and 2019.
Ladygin has won three races during the current season in his LADA Sport Rosneft-run LADA Vesta Sport, building a 29-point lead over Bragin who has scored two victories at the wheel of the Audi RS 3 LMS entered by TAIF Motorsport.
Andrej Maslennikov (Lukoil Racing Team, Hyundai i30 N) is currently placed third in the standings with a gap of 53 points from the leader, which equates to the number of points that are for grasp in the final event. However, Maslennikov is no longer in contention; should he win both races and set pole position and two fastest laps, matching Ladygin's score and number of victories, he would be second thanks to the number of second places.
Freshly-crowned Baltic Touring Car champion Valter Zviedris will make his first appearance in the series. The Latvian will be at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS run by LV Racing.
Live streaming of both races at www.tcr-series.com, Sunday at 11:45 and 16:15 local times (09:45 and 14:15 CET).
