The Audi RS 3 LMS was named the 2023 TCR Model of the Year, the honorary accolade awarded by WSC. The TCR Model of the Year is based on a classification that takes into account the results achieved by all the TCR-certified model cars in all the TCR-sanctioned races held during the season.
During the season a total of 322 races awarded points for the Model of the Year classification. Audi cars have scored 7872 points, and a remarkable 88 race wins thanks to 1271 starts in 30 TCR-sanctioned series; their most outstanding achievements were the TCR Europe and TCR Italy titles won by Tom Coronel and Franco Girolami respectively, plus six victories in the Kumho TCR World Tour.
WSC President Marcello Lotti said: “Many congratulations to Audi Sport and all its customer teams. The 2023 season has delivered once again a great deal of exciting races. The high level of competition was proved by the fact that the title fight for most of the championships has been decided only in the very last race. Therefore, it is a remarkable achievement to be named TCR Model of the Years once again. Audi Sport has embraced the TCR concept with passion and dedication, establishing a very efficient Customer Service that has been instrumental in fostering the teams’ loyalty.”
Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing commented: “Many years ago, promoter WSC developed the fascinating idea of recording the worldwide sporting performance of a large number of TCR models and putting it into perspective. It is a special honor for us that the Audi RS 3 LMS has received the ‘TCR Model of the Year’ award for the third time in a row and for the fourth time overall in this worldwide evaluation. This title also reflects the great individual achievements of our customers on five continents, whose results make this overall sporting success possible in the first place.”
