The ADAC TCR Germany championship resumes at the Lausitzring, three months after the previous event at the Red Bull Ring. This long break resulted from the cancellation of the Nürburgring round at the beginning of August, as the circuit and its infrastructures wre being used by the rescue services as a centre for coordinating aid measures after the calamitous flood that hit the region.
Luca Engstler, the winner of both races in the season opener at Oschersleben, leads the championship in his Hyundai i30 N run by his father's team. Italian newcomer Luca Scalvini responded with a double victory in Austria at the wheel of a Wimmer Werk Motorsport CUPRA Leon Competición and so moved into the second position, 19 points behind Engstler.
Dominik Fugel (Team ADAC Sachsen, Honda Civic Type R), third-classified in last year's championship, is currently third, five points behind Scalvini.
The Honda team will add a third Civic car alongside those of brothers Dominik and Marcel Fugel for the 23-year-old go-kart driver Christopher Röhner on his car racing debut.
Live streaming of the races at www.tcr-series.com; Saturday at 13:40 and Sunday at 14:40 (CEST).
