The Thai team of Kantadhee Kusiri, Kantasak Kusiri, Anusorn Asiralertsir, Tanart Sathienthirakul and Pasarit Promsombat emerged as the TCR class winner in the 24H Dubai, opening round of the 2022 24H Series.
In contention from the very early going, their BBR-run CUPRA #159 ran consistently in the top five during the opening stages before slotting into 2nd place heading into the night stages. A suspension mount issue for long-time leader the #188 AC Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS eventually allowed BBR to hit the top spot at half-distance. The Thai team was never led thereafter, and Kantadhee Kusiri drove the CUPRA across the line to complete 541 laps of the Dubai Autodrome.
Despite its delays, the AC Motorsport Audi #188 of Stéphane Perrin, Mathieu Detry, Miklas Born and Yannick Mettler recovered to finish 2nd overall, eight laps behind, while the Autorama Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI #112 driven by Henry Littig, Antti Rammo, Vytenis Gulbinas, Gustavo Xavier and Alex Morgan took the final spot in the TCR class, despite early fuel pressure problems.
The new Audi RS 3 LMS of Autorama Motorsport that Rob Huff shared with Marcus Menden, Marlon Menden, Peter Posavac and Alex Morgan looked set to compete for victory before a gearbox change dropped it to the back of the division.
The 24H Series will resume on 26th March with the 12H Mugello.
