The Tecnodom Sport Audi RS 3 LMS took its second victory in the TCR DSG Europe series at Mugello. Luca Rangoni was at the wheel in the early stages, taking the lead at the start before handing the car to Steven and Jonathan Giacon who completed the second and third stints.
The Giacon brothers managed to maintain the first position, resisting the pressure from Gabriele Volpato in the Élite Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI he shared with Marco Butti.
A safety car intervention in the last part of the race helped Volpato to close the gap and challenge Jonathan Giacon in a final sprint towards the finish line that saw the Audi prevailing by 1.3 seconds.
The podium was completed by the NOS Racing Golf GTI shared by Niccolò Loia and Simone Sartoni, while the team’s sister car of Gabriele Giorgi and Cosimo Barberini that had qualified on pole retired after 25 minutes with a pierced radiator.
The victory meant that Jonathan and Steven Giacon have extended their leadership in the standings to 27 points over Butti, while Volpato lies third, 8 further point adrift.
The fifth and final round of the series will be run on 26/27 November at Vallelunga.
