The TCR Asia and TCR China joint event at Shanghai International Circuit will see Henry Ho and Mitchell Cheah starting from the pole position in Race 1 and Race 2 respectively.
The timetable limits the proceedings to Friday only, as on Saturday and Sunday the circuit hosts the SIC 888Km Endurance race that will see the participation of some of the TCR teams.
In Qualifying1, Henry Ho set the fastest lap of 2:17.250 in the MacPro Racing Team Honda Civic, beating Sunny Wong’s TeamWork Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI (2:17.508) and the Team Engstler Golf of Luca Engstler (2:17.824) that was the fastest of the TCR Asia cars ahead of his fellow competitor Wong Kiang Kuan in the Elegant Racing Cupra (2:18.122). Fifth and sixth qualified Filipe De Souza in the TA Motorsport Audi RS3 LMS (2:18.282) and Tian Li Ying in the HE Racing Golf (2:19.386), while the fourth row of the grid for Race 1 will be filled by Engstler’s teammates Diego Moran (2:19.603) and Mitchell Cheah (2:19.732).
The Team Engstler trio topped the timesheet in Qualifying 2, with Cheah (2:17.117) who set pole position for Race 2 from Engstler (2:17.681) and Moran (2:17.714). Fourth and fastest of TCR China was Sunny Wong’s co-driver Alex Hui (2:17.932), followed in fifth by Wong Kiang Kuan (2:18.611). Eurico De Jesus qualified the MacPro Racing Honda he shares with Henry Ho in sixth position (2:19.657).
All races will take place today, Friday: the two joint TCR Asia & TCR China sprint races at 11:50 and 14:25 local time (05:50 and 08:25 CET), TCR China 60-minute Race 3 will follow at 16:30 local time (10:30 CET).
