TeamWork Motorsport sets two poles at Guangdong

Sunny Wong and Alex Hui drove the TeamWork Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI to set pole positions for both the TCR China sprint races – Rounds 13 and 14 – that will take place tomorrow at Zhaoqing’s Guangdong International Circuit.
Series newcomer Ma Qing Hua qualified the Freely Racing Alfa Romeo Giulietta in a brilliant second position for Race 1, while Li Shi Cheng set the second fastest lap in Qualifying 2 at the wheel of a Leo Racing Golf GTI.
In Qualifying 1, Wong edged out Ma Qing Hua’s Freely Racing Alfa Romeo by just 39 thousandths of a second claiming the pole for Race 1. The TeamWork Motorsport driver clocked a provisional fastest lap of 1:21.5 on used tyres, but he was ousted by Ma’s 1:21.269. They both pitted for new tyres, but while Wong was able to improve to 1:21.230, Ma was late and couldn’t complete the lap before the end of the session. Tian Li Ying qualified the HE Racing Golf GTI in third position (1:22.174), with Falco Lau posting the fourth fastest lap (1:22.353) in the Champ X T.A. Motorsport Audi RS3 LMS.
Hui imitated his teammate Wong by setting the fastest lap in Qualifying 2, which will place him on pole position for Race 2. Hui’s 1:22.933 was six tenths faster than the 1:23.548 posted by Li Shi Cheng in the Leo Racing Golf GTI, while Li Xue Feng (1:23.908) and Mai Yi Bo (1:24.085) qualified third and fourth completing a quartet of Volkswagen cars on top of the timesheet. The Freely Racing Giulietta, driven by Xia Yi Li ranked sixth, between the Audi cars of Gary Lo and Shi Nai Jie.
