TCR Virtual is now live, as the Qualification phase has got underway yesterday, and you can take part in it!
This is the first public esports competition promoted by WSC Group, the organisation responsible for real-world TCR racing, open to drivers all over the globe.
A unique knockout system, made possible by Simracing.GP, means everyone gets to race. It’s an esports tournament like no one else that has seen before: rather than setting a time on a hotlap leaderboard, in TCR Virtual you can race your way to victory.
An officially licensed TCR mod for Assetto Corsa has been developed, featuring all TCR brands. This will be for free download on RaceDepartment once the competition starts. Download will include all the cars and tracks you need to compete in the qualifying phase.
Entering the competition is for free, and it features spectacular prizes including a €10.000 prize pool and a chance to earn a test drive in a real TCR car.
To qualify for the Knockout Tournament, competitors must take part in a ten-minute Qualification Race and finish it with no incidents. They can participate in as many qualifying heats as they like for four weeks, right up until the final day of the first round.
After completing the Qualification Race, competitors will be able to take part in Continental Knockouts. In round one, the first half of the finishers in each heat will progress to round two while the others will be eliminated. The number of competitors promoted to the following rounds will be reduced until only twenty are left for participating in the Continental Finals.
Each Continental Final will consist of two races, the second using a reverse grid. TCR’s traditional championship point scoring system will be used to determine each Continental Champion. The Continental Finals will take place on 10th December, at 19:00 Local Time and will be broadcasted worldwide on TCR YouTube channel, as well as RaceDepartment Twitch and YouTube channels.
The first three classified of each Continental Final will be invited to the on-site TCR Virtual Grand Finale, which will be held in 2022. Further details on the date and venue will be released in due course.
