On his return to TCR UK, Alex Morgan claimed pole position at Oulton Park at the end of a thrilling Qualifying session that saw five different drivers making turns on top of the timesheet.
Morgan and his Power Maxed Racing CUPRA posted a provisional fastest time of 1:29.696 on their first lap out, but Max Hart improved to 1:29.664 in his Hyundai i30 N run by Maximum Motorsport. Morgan responded with a faster lap of 1:29.607, but Hart struck back with 1:29.417 before the current points leader Lewis Kent entered the contention with a lap of 1:29.302 at the wheel of his Essex & Kent Motorsport-run Hyundai i30 N.
Kent’s younger brother and teammate Bradley was the next fastest in 1:28.600, but Morgan’s teammate Jac Constable placed his CUPRA on top with a lap of 1:28.075. Then, in the session’s dying moments, Morgan settled the matter for good with a lap of 1:27.722 that gave him the pole position for Race 1. Constable too was able to break the 1:28. wall, but his 1:27.990 could only grant him the second spot on the grid.
Hart was the last to improve, moving up into third with a lap of 1:28.174 and demoting Lewis and Bradley Kent to fourth and fifth.
The first race will take place the afternoon, at 13:35 local time (14:35 CEST).
