Maximum Motorsport has confirmed that Stewart Lines will be driving the team’s CUPRA TCR car in selected rounds of the 2018 TCR UK championship, which starts at Silverstone’s national circuit over the Easter weekend.
Ex-BTCC driver Lines drove the car in the recent test day at Silverstone, in which he ended the day as the third quickest behind the Honda duo of Ollie Taylor and Sean Walkinshaw.
The car Lines will be campaigning in the TCR UK championship is a CUPRA TCR DSG, which means he is the second driver eligible for the recently-announced DSG Trophy.
Lines said: “We’ve had the car for some time now as I strongly believe that TCR is the future of Touring Cars. We plan to compete in a number of championships with it and we’re starting 2018 with a programme of TCR UK events. Depending on how things go at Silverstone, we could well enter more rounds and have a real go at winning the DSG Trophy.”
