TCR UK introduces the Gen 1 Cup for the 2024 season

The TCR UK promoter announced the establishment of a Gen 1 Cup for the 2024 season. This will be a new category within the overall TCR UK Championship, where drivers and teams who wish to compete in Generation 1 TCR cars, such Audi RS 3 LMS, CUPRA TCR, Volkswagen Golf GTI and Vauxhall/Opel Astra, will be awarded trophies and their own Cup classification. Further models that are eligible will be confirmed in due course.

The Gen 1 Cup provides the chance for anyone looking to enter TCR UK to use older cars and race on a lower budget.

Championship Promoter Stewart Lines explained; “As the Promoter and rights holder for all TCR activities in the UK, we’ve recognised now that there needs to be some changes going forward to help drivers be part of our platform and be recognised for their participation. These changes will generate opportunities for people in older TCR cars who want to be a part of the TCR family and give them a chance to win a TCR championship in their own right.”
