The promoters of TCR UK announced that for the first time in the history of the championship, a total prize fund of £75,000 will be introduced.
A cash prize will be handed out to drivers during the 2023 season. The amount of £1,000 will be awarded to the driver who takes the overall pole position in each of the seven qualifying sessions this year. The overall top three drivers in the first race at each event will receive £1,500, £1,000 and £500 respectively. For the reverse grid race two, the winner will receive £750, the second and third-placed drivers will receive £500 and £250. The same race two prize amounts also apply to race three at Knockhill, the only event to have three races this year.
At the end-of-season awards ceremony, the 2023 TCR UK Champion will receive the amount of £15,000 with the Vice-Champion receiving £10,000 and the third-placed driver £5,000. The drivers who are crowned as the Tom Walker Memorial Trophy winner and Goodyear Diamond Trophy winners will also receive £2,500 per trophy.
Championship Promoter Stewart Lines commented: “I’m very pleased that we have introduced this new prize fund. For the drivers to earn prize money for their on-track performance is a great reward. In the current climate where everyone is working so hard to go motor racing, during this difficult economic time, this offers a welcome change where we can give something back to those competing in the championship.”
