The 2022 TCR South America season began yesterday with the first collective test in Brazil, at the Autódromo Velocitta in Mogi Guaçu, the venue that will host the championship's opening event on 2/3 April.
Five teams took part in the test: PropCar Racing (Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce), Scuderia CJ (Hyundai Elantra N), Crown Racing (Honda Civic Type R), MC Tubarão and Cobra Racing (Audi RS 3 LMS). The W2 ProGP team that won the title in the inaugural season with Pepe Oriola did not attend as the team is waiting to receive its new CUPRA Leon Competición cars that replace the Honda Civic Type R cars it ran in 2021.
Amongst the drivers who hit the track were Pedro Aizza for Scuderia CJ, the winner of the 2021 Trophy Adalberto Baptista for Cobra Racing, the new entry Gabriel Lusquiños for Crown Racing, Márcio Basso for MC Tubarão and Javier Manta for PropCar Racing.
