The TCR Scandinavia championship kicks off Saturday at Ljungbyhed without the reigning champion. In fact, Rob Huff will not defend his title to focus on the WTCR campaign.
Without him, the top seeds for aspire to the crown are Robert Dahlgren, Tobias Brink and Oliver Söderström.
Dahlgren, last year's runner up, is chasing his third title in the series (he was champion in 2017 and 2019) at the wheel of his PWR Racing CUPRA Leon Competición; Brink, second in 2019 and third last year, drives an Audi RS 3 LMS for his own team, while Söderström, the winner of the 2020 opening race, races again a Volkswagen Golf GTI for the champion team Lestrup Racing.
There is curiosity for the first appearance of a Lynk & Co 03 car in a European series; the Chinese machine has been chosen by Mattias Anderson who will race it for MA GP.
The format of the event provides one Qualifying (Q1+Q2) and three races. The grid for Race 1 is based on Q1 results, the grid for Race 2 is based on the combined Qualifying results and the grid for Race 3 is determined by the results of Race 2 with the top-8 reversed.
