The Smolensk Ring - that receives TCR Russia for rounds 5 and 6 - is one of those tracks where overtaking is not easy; and this often turns races into processions.
Therefore a good position on the grid and good reflex at the start become crucial. How it was proved by last year's races.
The first one was won by Dmitry Bragin who started better than pole sitter Ivan Lukashevich, while Kirill Ladygin took a lights-to-flag victory in the second race.
Them both will be aiming for victory again this year. Bragin tops the standings in his TAIF Motorsport Hyundai i30 N having scored 11 points more than Ladygin in the LADA Vesta Sport.
They are currently split by Lukoil Racing's Aleksey Dudukalo (Audi RS 3 LMS) who lies in second position, four points behind the leader.
The two races will start Saturday at 14:55 local time (13:55 CET) and Sunday at 14:50 local time (13:50 CET); live streaming at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv
