The TCR Japan championship will switch from Yokohama to Dunlop from the next year.
The series’ promoter Japan TCR Management has appointed Dunlop Tires of Sumitomo Rubber Industries as the sole supplier of control tyres under a three-year contract from 2022 to 2024.
Akira Kurashita, President and CEO of Japan TCR Management commented: “Sumitomo Rubber Industries have global insight and passion for motorsports, and we are confident that this deal will take our series to a higher stage. We are currently in the middle of the 2021 season, but we would like to express our deep gratitude to Yokohama Rubber Co. for their continued support and efforts throughout the difficult time of COVID-19 from the start of last year.”
Jiro Takeuchi, General Manager of Motor Sports Department Sumitomo Rubber Industries said: “We thank Japan TCR Management for selecting our product as the control tyre. We are very pleased to be involved in TCR competition that is so popular in Europe, Asian countries, Australia, North America and South America. Dunlop will work to develop and supply tyres that can provide stable performance so that competitors can enjoy high-level racing. We look forward to working with TCR Japan in the future.”
From this season, Dunlop is the sole tyre supplier for TCR South America.
