TCR Italy resumes at Misano for rounds five and six with a field that grows to 34 cars and Salvatore Tavano (Scuderia del Girasole, CUPRA Leon Competición) on top of the standings. During the previous event at Imola, the former champion took advantage from the absence of Kevin Ceccon (Aggressive Team Italia, Hyundai Elantra N) and moved into the lead, 12 points clear of Estonian youngster Ruben Volt (ALM Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R).
Imola’s races were won by two other young drivers: Carlo Tamburini (MM Motorsport, Honda Civic Type R) and Rubén Fernández (RC2 Junior Team, Audi RS 3 LMS II) who are currently placed third and fifth in the standings, 25 and 38 points behind Tavano respectively; they are split by Niels Langeveld (Target Competition, Hyundai Elantra N) who lies in fourth position, one point behind Tamburini.
After missing Imola that clashed with the FIA ETCR at Pau, Ceccon has slipped to seventh with a gap of 61 points; he rejoins eager to relaunch his odds in the title fight with the help of team principal Mauro Guastamacchia who returns to the championship at the wheel of a second Elantra N.
Other new additions to the entry lists are Francesco Savoia (Greta Racing, Audi RS 3 LMS) and Victor Fernández in a second Audi RS 3 LMS II run by RC 2 Junior Team.
