The TCR Italy championship kicks off this weekend at Monza with a record field of 27 cars.
All eyes are set on the reigining champion Salvatore Tavano who will be aiming to secure a fourth consecutive title at the wheel of his CUPRA Leon Competición run by Scuderia del Girasole.
Besides facing the usual competition from his Italian countrymen, Tavano has to pit himself against some talented drivers coming from other TCR series such as the ADAC TCR Germany reigning champion Antti Buri, TCR Europe regular Evgenii Leonov, Macedonia's motorsport star Igor Stefanovski, Czech driver Dušan Kouřil who was classified third in the 2019 TCR Eastern Europe and Estonian youngsters Mattias Vahtel and Ruben Volt.
Amongst the Italians, the more serious title contenders appear to be the 2017 champion Nicola Baldan, last year's vice-champion Eric Brigliadori, former WTCR race winner Kevin Ceccon and Jonathan Giacon, whose brother Kevin will drive the FIAT Tipo TCR in its first appearance in the Italian series.
Live streaming of both races will be on www.tcr-series.com; Saturday, Race 1 at 13:40 local time (CEST), and Sunday, Race 2 at 10:10 local time (CEST).
