Two TCR cars took part for the first time in the ENEOS 1006 KM race that took place last weekend at Palanga, Lithuania.
Despite neing less powerful compared to most of the other 39 cars that took the start, the two TCR machines proved consistent and reliable, which allowed them to compete for the top positions.
Eventually, the Nero-GSR Racing Team Volkswagen Golf GTI driven by Ernesta Globytė, Dainius Matijošaitis, Nerijus Malaševicius and Eugenijus Misiūra finished in a respectable fifth position overall, behind four GT cars. In little less than nine hours, the team completed 361 laps of the 2.7 kilometre racetrack, only twelve short of the winning Porsche 911.
The SEAT León shared by Igoris Ivanovas, Kęstutis Vilkas, and Sigitas Ambrazevičius ranked sixth overall, a further four laps adrift.
The two TCR cars were also classified second and third in the A3000+ class, behind a BMW M46 GTR.
