TCR Australia adds Qualifying points for 2023

TCR Australia adds Qualifying points for 2023

11 January 2023

Qualifying for every TCR Australia event will carry a significant series points boost for the 2023 season.

Aimed at increasing the importance of qualifying and encouraging the most dynamic session possible, the pole sitter for every event will score 10 points.

Second through to fifth place will also score points, with series administrators allocating a sliding scale of 7, 5, 3 and 2 respectively.

Also, the driver who sets the fastest lap in each of the weekend’s three races will score a bonus point.

The change means that a maximum of 153 points will be on offer at every race meeting and considering that the 2022 title was decided by just nine points, this will make qualifying and races to be as fierce as ever.

The race formats for 2023 will remain unchanged. The starting order of the first race will be determined by qualifying positions, with the winner taking 50 points. The second race will feature the exciting reverse top 10, with 40 series points on the line. The final race will see the starting order determined by the total points from Races 1 and 2, with the winner of Race 3 also taking 50 series points.
