After a 4-year break due to Covid, TCR Asia is set to return with not one, but two, Pan-Asian championships.
The TCR Asia Series, first established in 2015 at the birth of the TCR category, will make its long-awaited return, with a five-event calendar running to its usual format of two sprint races per weekend.
The first two will take place at Sepang, the circuit which previously hosted the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix; the Series will then move to Buriram in Thailand before heading off to China with two events taking place in the Yangtze River Delta area at Zhejiang and at Shanghai International Circuit, the home of F1 in China, the Shanghai International Circuit.
The titles on offer will be for Overall Drivers, Cup Drivers (Amateur) and the recently announced TCR Gen 1 Cup for older cars.

“I am really pleased that we can finally get back to TCR racing in Asia. We have been constantly monitoring the situation over the past few years and we feel that this is the right time to get things going again. I have received a lot of interest, and a certain amount of pressure, from teams and drivers since Macau last November, and that encouraged me to push ahead to make this happen. Now that we can formally announce this, I expect things to move forward positively.” said Series Director, David Sonenscher.
