Portugal-based company FullEventos announced plans to set up a TC3™ Portuguese Series from next year.
This would be the second regional or national series to embrace the TC3 concept, after the TC3™ Asia Series that was announced a couple of weeks ago.
The new series will be run and promoted by FullEventos, headed by Paulo Ferreira and Nuno Couceiro that has previously run the Portuguese Touring Car and GT Championships.
Paulo Ferreira commented: “We firmly believe in the TC3 concept, as it comes at the right time to fill a gap in touring car racing. TC3 cars will be capable of strong performance, but at the same time they will be easy to maintain and it will be possible to run them with affordable budgets. I can think of many drivers and teams in Portugal and also in Spain that could be interested in this new category.”
FullEventos plans to hold six events during the 2015 season, with some of them being staged together with the TC3 International Series. The calendar of the TC3 Portuguese Series will be unveiled in September.
