Tavano sets the pace in Mugello Qualifying

Salvatore Tavano’s Cupra set the pace in the TCR Italy Qualifying at Mugello and claimed pole position from the Hyundai i30 N cars of Nicola Baldan and Eric Scalvini. Current championship leader Luigi Ferrara placed his Alfa Romeo Giulietta in fourth position.
It was a close session with the fastest four drivers covered by only six tenths of a second: Tavano’s best lap of 1:57.272 beat Baldan’s 1:57.679 by four tenths, while Scalvini (1:57.766) and Ferrara (1:57.837) were only a few hundredths adrift.
A gap of eight tenths separated Ferrara from Enrico Bettera who qualified fifth in his Audi RS3 LMS (1:58.662) ahead of the Honda Civic shared by Portuguese racers José Rodrigues and Cesar Machado.
Massimiliano Gagliano achieved his best qualifying result so far, placing his Cupra seventh (and first of the DSG cars) on the grid for today’s 1 Race ahead of Matteo Greco’s Cupra that will start eighth.
