For the third time from six races of TCR Italy, the winner has been demoted. It had happened with Felice Jelimini after Race 2 at Mugello and Race 1 at Misano, and today it was Damiano Reduzzi’s turn to be stripped of his victory in Race 2 at Imola.
The Team WRT Trico’s driver was given a five-second penalty for making contact with Marco Pellegrini during the final lap of the race. Even funnier, with Pellegrini second under the chequered flag, but subjected to a five-second penalty as well for a grid infringement, it was the third classified in the race, Salvatore Tavano, who inherited the victory.
Igor Stefanovski and Eric Brigliadori were then promoted to second and third, while Reduzzi dropped to fifth behind Jacopo Guidetti.
The amended results also meant that Tavano reduced his gap to Brigliadori in the standings to three points only.
