Söderström places the Lestrup Racing Golf on pole at Dubai

Lestrup Racing’s Oliver Söderström emerged as the fastest driver in the TCR class during the Qualifying for the 24H Dubai, the opening round of the 24H Series Continents Championship.
The 21-year-old Swede drove his Volkswagen Golf GTI to complete a lap in 2:09.614 that was the second fastest time in the TCE category behind a Ginetta G55 TCX. “I had a really clean lap and got a little help with a tow from an Audi, that helped me to secure pole position,” said Söderström who will share driving duties with Hannes Morin, Martin Öhlin and Marcus Fluch.
Second in the TCR class was the BBR CUPRA of the Thai quintet formed by Kantadhee Kusiri, Kantasak Kusiri, Anusorn Asiralertsiri, Munkong Sathienthirakul and Chariya Nuya that was only one tenth slower, while the fastest of the two Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing Volkswagen cars, driven by Alberto Vescovi, Roberto Ferri, Miklas Born, Constantin Kletzer and Yannick Mettler qualified third in the class. It was a nice reward for the Swiss team after the huge effort to repair the car that was seriously damaged in an incident occurred during Wednesday’s test session.
The TopCar Sport with Bas Koeten Racing CUPRA, the AC Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS and the KCMG Honda Civic Type R filled the positions from fourth to sixth, meaning that cars of four different brands made it into the top six of the TCR class.
The 24H race will start tomorrow at 15:00 local time (11:00 GMT/12:00 CET) and will be streamed live at www.24hseries.com.
