Six drivers from Macau will join the WTCR field for their home event that will close the inaugural season of the FIA World Touring Car Cup from 15 to 18 November.
André Couto, winner of the Macau Grand Prix in 2000 and a former World Touring Car driver, has been nominated by the TCR China promoter and will drive a Honda Civic Type R for MacPro Racing Team. Couto has won both the sprint races of TCR China’s second event at Ningbo.
Filipe de Souza, Billy Lo Kai Fung, Lam Kam San, Kevin Tse Wing Kin and Rui Valente were among a number of drivers who have applied to the Macanese ASN, the AAMC, to take part in the event. Following a rigorous assessment process, they were selected and their inclusion on the entry list, along with Couto, has been approved by the FIA.
De Souza and Lam will race Audi RS3 LMS cars for Champ Motorsport, Lo and Tse will also drive Audi cars for TSRT Zuver Team and TeamWork Motorsport respectively, while Valente will line up in a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR for the PCT-IXO Models Racing Team.
