Jan Seyffert won his maiden pole position in TCR Germany as he topped the Qualifying session at the Sachsenring. Points leader Dominik Fugel qualified in eighth position and so will start from the pole of the reversed grid for Race 2.
The eleven competitors faced the Q1 part of the session knowing that only one of them would not make the cut for the top-twelve Q2. And, quite surprisingly, that one was the winner of the latest race, Antti Buri who ranked 11th, one tenth slower than Albert Legutko.
Dominik Fugel posted the first significant lap of 1:27.939, but Jan Seyffert improved it by 1.2 seconds, as he clocked the fastest lap of 1:26.792. Moments before the chequered flag, Harald Proczyk moved into P2 with a lap of 1:27.927, while guest bike rider Marcel Schrötter raked an impressive fourth with a lap of 1:28.015.
In Q2, René Kircher set the pace in the early stages, with two provisional fastest laps of 1:27.318 and 1:27.133; however, Seyffert first moved into P2 with a lap of 1:27.963 and then jumped on top of the timesheet as he was clocked at 1:26.963. Nico Gruber qualified in third position and Schrötter in sixth.
Race 1 will be streamed live today at www.tcr-series.com, at 11:50, local time (CEST).
